Women’s Day Breakfast

Last week Tuesday, I had the privilege of photographing a Women’s Day Breakfast that was hosted by the Chris Burger and Petro Jackson Players’ Fund to celebrate the women in rugby. The event was held in the bowls clubhouse at the Kelvin Grove Sports Club, in Newlands.

For those who don’t know, the organisation helps rugby players (at all levels) who have sustained life changing injuries on the field by providing them with life-long support. This comes in various guises and may include things like wheel chairs, hospital beds, financial assistance, etc. I found out about this organisation through social media and was given …

Unathi and I met last year through the group Brownsense where she needed some input concerning her decor business. We moved our discussion to email and I, eventually, gave her a call. We discussed the opportunities for black business owners in Cape Town’s wedding industry and talked about forming a partnership. I mentioned that I would be moving to Cape Town, where she was based, and we promised to keep in touch. Fast forward to almost a year later and we finally meet. As of Sunday, I will officially have entered the final month of pregnancy! It has been so tough! The weather in Cape Town is almost always above 30 degrees celsius, our house doesn’t have any form of air conditioning and we still don’t own a fan ( I need to make this a priority)! A SOBER LOOK, AT THE YEAR AHEAD

January has finally come to an end. It’s been a crazy few months for me – with the move and all. EMBRACING CHANGE

I am not ashamed to admit it (although I really should be): I have a selective understanding and interpretation of the Bible. I believe that all sins are equal (although I can’t be as bad as those who worship idols). Equally, I don’t REALLY think that when we talk about tithing, God wants the ACTUAL 10% of GROSS earnings; don’t Bibles have typing errors? They do, right! I joke, I think. LONGING FOR INTIMACY

For those of you who don’t know, my husband and I are currently attending a marriage course based on Bruce Wilkinson’s teaching series: A Biblical Portrait of Marriage (Listen to the podcasts here). I am finding the course to be life-changing. It delves deeply into the core aspects of marriage (leaving, cleaving, the role of a husband, the role of the wife, etc.) with, I suppose, the end goal of fostering intimacy and security in the marriage.
