About 6 months ago, I had to finally accept that I was lactose intolerant. I found out by purposefully eliminating certain foods from my diet and then re-introducing them. I eliminated meat and dairy and found out that dairy was the culprit. I noticed that whenever I had a lot of dairy or dairy products, I’d have a runny tummy accompanied by stomach cramps. After being certain that it was the dairy I reduced my dairy intake by 75% and have felt a huge change!
I used to have cereal in the morning but now I either have toast and eggs or some kind or porridge. I try to only take dairy in my coffee (once a day) and maybe have the odd slice of cheese on toast or a bit of cheese sauce in my greens in the evening. There are also a few yummy dairy alternatives or dairy products that are easy on the tummy like this ice-cream I had at Ferguson’s 5th Floor. It has dairy but is lactose free and tastes just like regular (if not better) ice-cream!
If you’re lactose intolerant, my tip for you would be to rather reduce your dairy consumption. Often its not that you can’t have dairy, but that you can’t have a lot of it. Let me know how it goes!
